I write character based plays that dig deep and investigate the things inside us that either keep us from moving forward, or keep us fighting for survival. As people we are experts at living our lives on the surface without the outside world knowing what is burning under the skin. It is that struggle between the inner and outer you, those secrets and fears that inspire me. I want to know when and what makes us finally break. When and what finally makes us push back. Even though my plays deal with some hard stuff, I always find a way to add some whimsy, magic, and humor into the mix. I’m not interested in the solution, in the perfect world, but in the glimmers of hope that surface after the storm.
